Yay Mary! Glad to help you not beat yourself up... It just gets so frustrating, doesn't it, because you're thinking, I've done this, I've finished other books...it should be getting easier.

Michelle - the next one has to be a gift book. But I can't promise anything about the one after that...

I think this must be the month for books that kill us. I just turned in one, and I swear to God, I thought it was going to be the death of me. More blood, sweat, and tears went into that book than any other. I need a "gift book" right about now. :frazzled:

I'm with Amy thinking the reunion stories are easier.

But what an insight to what I've been going through with my WIP. It's been about to kill me, and you're right, it's because I'm pushing myself with it, writing something tougher than I ever have, a bigger book.

Now I don't have to beat myself up so much!

Hey Linda! I'm definitely on the right end...the amount of attention to detail my editors have is just amazing - I'm forever grateful :) But I ageee - it's like the editor is there on my shoulder for the new books - and not in a bad way - just in a, you do not need another 'just' in that sentence way. Makes clean-up a lot easier.

Amy - but you pull off those reunion / known each other stories beautifully! I think it's so hard when people have a history together..I don't know why. But maybe there's something to that 3rd book thing...hey, at least we're stretching!

So interesting that you think reunion stories are harder than stranger stories. I seem to lean toward writing reunion stories, or at least, they've known each other for a long time stories. But my third, the one that tried to kill me, was strangers. Maybe you're on to something.

Good luck on finishing up!

I'm with you on the importance of editors. I have an editor goddess who is intent on making my work the best it can be (and I'm grateful, believe me -- all hail the Editor Goddess :bravo: ), so I understand what you mean by learning. It's hard sometimes, but it's making the new writing easier in some ways. How weird is that?

And I'm absolutely sure I was meant to be on the writing end -- not the editing end. How do they do it?
