"[Tyler's] straight forward, dead-on writing style invites us to get hot and happy and bowled over by love right along with Carly and Hunt. Which makes being there when they do come undone one of the best things about the novel — next to just how great a romance it is." -Michelle Buonofiglio, Romance: Buy The Book

“On a similar note, while you're free to think whatever you like about my life and death, if you think I wasted my life, I'll tell you you're wrong. We're all going to die of something. I died doing a job I loved. When your time comes, I hope you are as fortunate as I was.”

“Do you want me to tell you something really subversive? Love is everything it’s cracked up to be. That’s why people are so cynical about it. It really is worth fighting for, being brave for, risking everything for. And the trouble is, if you don’t risk everything, you risk even more.”

the ghost mouse

First of all, the crickets are back in my basement. I’m guessing the two feet of snow we got this winter did not hinder their development at all. One just stood there and watched me walk down the stairs the other day. And as I walked passed it, I said - I am not afraid of you (lie) - you just stay right there and don’t try any of those hopping moves , and the damned thing obeyed. If they continue to obey and not run toward me, we can keep this uneasy truce.

So when I came up the stairs and the husband asked me who exactly I was talking to and I told him, the crickets, I figured it was the perfect time to tell him about the other thing I’ve been seeing in the house.

Every night, something small and dark and shadowy seems to float quickly across the kitchen floor toward the basement. It happens so fast, and I can only catch it out of the corner of my eye, but it’s happened every night for about two weeks now. At first, I thought I was seeing things. The next night, it happened again, practically at the same time of night - so I figured - hmmm, shadows. So the next night, I left the kitchen light on.

Same exact thing. And really, it’s not like I’m staring at the kitchen waiting for this to happen - normally I’m typing or reading, so for it to catch my eye, it’s got to be something. And it only happens once per night, which adds to the strangeness.

So I tell the husband this - and he nods. He looks at me like I’m crazy, but really, it’s how he looks at me most of the time, so I’m used to it. And he says he’ll put something across the basement door but based on the direction this thing is coming from, it doesn’t make sense. There’s no food in those cabinets. I tell him, maybe possible ghost mouse just want a nice place to hang out during the day and that isn’t it weird that it happens every night within the same hour time span.

He asks if mouse-like object was wearing a watch. I tell him he’s definitely never getting any kind of part in any of my books.

So it’s either:

1. a real mouse (which honestly, it seems to move way too fast and float-y to be)
2. the mother of all crickets
3. a ghost mouse OR the mother of all ghost crickets
4. the crickets playing a joke on me
5. a shadow
6. I am going crazy

And no matter what it is, this one is definitely all Larissa’s fault.

Anyone know a good ghost-mouse hunter?

Steph T.

    Who ya gonna call?

Oh my, Steph - that’s, um, weird.

  2. raine Says:

I vote for the crickets playing a joke on you.
Damn good one it is, too.

  3. Tori Lennox Says:

Maybe what you need is a ghost cat to catch the ghost mouse.

  4. Rene Says:

Maybe Jake got bit by a weremouse and is now finding new ways to haunt you. You should have a smoothie.

  5. Steph T. Says:

It’s very weird, Eve. And it’s getting close to the sighting time again. *cue scary music*

*makes mental note to get back at Raine for taking cricket’s side*

Tori - with my luck, a ghost cat will just show up!

OMG - Rene - my mother was just here! She didn’t mention smoothies either

  6. Tori Lennox Says:

So, did the ghost mouse show up? And what about a ghost cat?

Hey, what’s my darling Saint up to these days? I miss him. :)

  7. Jean Says:

Larissa did it. That’s for sure.

Years ago, my grandparents had a mouse in their living room coat closet. He’d come out while they were watching TV, stare at my grandfather, and disappear back into the closet. Took ‘em a long time to catch the little fella.

  8. Michelle Says:

You could put out a humane trap and see if anything ends up in it. :shoot: Good luck!

  9. PJ Says:

It’s a ghost miniature Orca on a skateboard. Yeah.

Seriously, those little gray mice move faster than you think. Sounds like it’s trap time.

    ~PJ~

  10. Amy K. Says:

    How about a non-ghost cat? That’ll teach ol’ mousey.:shoot:

  11. Eve Says:

    Well did it come back?
