"[Tyler's] straight forward, dead-on writing style invites us to get hot and happy and bowled over by love right along with Carly and Hunt. Which makes being there when they do come undone one of the best things about the novel — next to just how great a romance it is." -Michelle Buonofiglio, Romance: Buy The Book

“On a similar note, while you're free to think whatever you like about my life and death, if you think I wasted my life, I'll tell you you're wrong. We're all going to die of something. I died doing a job I loved. When your time comes, I hope you are as fortunate as I was.”

“Do you want me to tell you something really subversive? Love is everything it’s cracked up to be. That’s why people are so cynical about it. It really is worth fighting for, being brave for, risking everything for. And the trouble is, if you don’t risk everything, you risk even more.”

cell phone minutes

So I got my new BlackBerry last month. And of course, I’ve been using it a lot, since it’s new and why use a regular old land line phone when I’ve got this cool new phone to use, right?

Riiiight. Got the first bill. Let’s put it this way - if I were a teenager, I’d be grounded for at least a month and the phone would be taken away. And I’d be given a stern talking to. And trust me when I tell you that I’m not a big phone person to begin with, so I’m not sure how I used the extra bazillion minutes.

I mean, I get to blame it on the fact that I’m not living home and have to use the cell phone a lot more than I normally would, but still. Ridiculous. Everyone in the world just needs to start using email as a communication device. Unless you’re an editor, in which case, please feel free to call anytime, day or night, roaming charges be damned.

  1. Sasha Says:

    I love email!
    Hate the phone.
Ditto to the editors though!

  2. Michelle Says:

I had to get my mom on the same cell phone plan so I could bring my bills down. But technology is fun. :)

  3. Danica Says:

Steph, the best invention EVER was free evenings and weekends. :)

  4. Jean Says:

Sounds like you need to find a different plan.

  5. Bonnie Ferguson Says:

:thumbsup:Count me in the “I love email” club

  6. Emma S Says:

If it weren’t for the glimmer of hope that an editor may call me, I probably wouldn’t even bother with a phone.

  7. Amy K. Says:

Email girl here too. Since I’m at my most alert and coherent after 9pm, not everyone appreciates my schedule.

  8. Alison Kent Says:

There was a news story here last night about cell phone viruses being sent and downloaded. The reporter was interviewing some junior high girls in a very tony school district. One said her TEXT MESSAGING BILL was $1000, bwahahaha!

  9. Tori Says:

Add me to the list of those who would be happiest dealing with EVERYTHING via email. I hate talking to people on the phone. Except my friends, of course.

  10. PJ Says:

 Been there. Still, we shopped around and found a pretty good plan; free nights and weekends, free calls between those with the same service, etc.

Hang in there; keep it

  11. kacey Says:

I’m not much of a phone person myself…but I do have my college kids and my mom with the same cell phone company…with free minutes in network. So…that’s takes care of most of my calls.

I adore email though. You can pick and chose when you want to talk…or not talk.

  12. Steph T. Says:

LOL Sasha - we’ll keep the lines open.

Michelle - my mom’s way over her minutes too.

Danica - I seriously keep forgetting about that too. In fact, that’s the time I never even use the damned phone. *sighs*

Jean - yes - the, shut up Steph, plan, I think. I blame the new wireless bluetooth earpiece. I can walk up to 30 feet away from the phone and still talk.

    Bonnie - duly notes

Emma - yeah, I’m so with you there. I think the majority of the time the last month was spent talking to Dell about my computer.

Amy - I appreciate it - I know I can always find you around after midnight or so. And since it’s 1:30 am here now and I just got an email from you, it’s comforting to know.

Alison - don’t curse me like that! I don’t think I’ve actually used the text messaging feature on the phone yet, but now I’ll be all virus paranoid…

Tori - the phone makes me shudder. It really does - it’s those damned friends (and Dell) running up my bills.

PJ - I know verizon has a great plan like that. Of course, my whole family uses Nextel and no one wants to give that up.

Kacey - I just think email is so efficient, you know? I respond to emails so much more quickly than phone messages.

  13. Rene Says:

My hubby is talking about getting a Blackberry to keep up with his email when he is out of the office. I hate the phone. Dh complains because of the wasted minutes on my cell phone because I never use. I’ve yelped out loud in stores when the darn thing has rung because I’m not used to it. In fact, right now, I’m not sure where it is right now.
