April 2007

"[Tyler's] straight forward, dead-on writing style invites us to get hot and happy and bowled over by love right along with Carly and Hunt. Which makes being there when they do come undone one of the best things about the novel — next to just how great a romance it is." -Michelle Buonofiglio, Romance: Buy The Book

“On a similar note, while you're free to think whatever you like about my life and death, if you think I wasted my life, I'll tell you you're wrong. We're all going to die of something. I died doing a job I loved. When your time comes, I hope you are as fortunate as I was.”

“Do you want me to tell you something really subversive? Love is everything it’s cracked up to be. That’s why people are so cynical about it. It really is worth fighting for, being brave for, risking everything for. And the trouble is, if you don’t risk everything, you risk even more.”

Halloween Costumes

So the husband and I were looking for Halloween costumes for the four year old. I was really kind of pushing for the cute cammy/soldier costume. Surprisingly, this choice did not get the most votes from the family.

I know - I was shocked too.

The husband wanted Yoda. My mother wants her in a ballerina costume. Of course, she also thinks we should be putting her in dresses every day. I think we’re going to end up with the, Elmo with matching candy basket, costume. But I’ll betcha Elmo would look really cute in camouflage.

That’s just so bizarre about the lack of enthusiasm for a camo costume.

  2. Tori Says:

Oh! Speaking of camo, there were Navy SEALs in Threshold the other night. Woohoo! :)

  3. Rene Says:

Halloween used to be a major trauma in my house because I had this insane desire to sew the kids costumes. I was usually up until 3 a.m. sewing costumes. I have hence discovered the kids like the store bought costumes just as well and they work out about the same price-wise. None of my kids have decided what they are going to be.

  4. Jean Says:

Does the 4-year old have a preference? Of course, a cammy Elmo sounds like a reasonable compromise…

  5. Jean Says:

Of course, if you get the 4-year old what she wants now, she’ll hate it by Halloween.

  6. Amy K. Says:

Elmo would look far better than normal in camo.

Not sure what the 5yo will be here, but the 3yo is pushing for Thomas the Tank for the third year in a row. :???:

  7. Steph T. Says:

Tori - I’m still shocked. And did you say SEALs? Must. Watch. That. Show. Larissa said she thought E-Ring, with Benjamin Bratt, was about SEALs, but my husband thought the uniforms were looked Army on the commercial.

Rene - I admire that you even know how to sew. I really wish I had learned to knit from my grandmother. She had a hard time teaching me, since I’m left handed.

LOL Jean (I think cammy Elmo is very reasonable) - The four year old doesn’t want a costume. At least not something with the whole mask and bulky outfit. So we’re going for something that could pass as something with a hood. Of course, she won’t be fooled at all.

Amy - I was laughing at the mother/daughter and father/son costumes I saw - one of them featured matching Marie Antoinette costumes. And then there were matching Darth Vaders. I’d stick with Thomas the Tank.

  8. Jill Says:

    I vote for cammies …!

  9. cece Says:

    Elmo in Camo would rock!!!!!!!

I hate halloween. Just another holiday that drains my wallet and frankly the kids are too old but they don’t listen.

  10. Tori Says:

According to TV Guide, Benjamin Bratt’s character is a Green Beret, so, yeah, he’s Army. :)
