Like you, I wish she'd put a more positive spin on it but I thought it was very tongue in cheek and chuckled at her mother's and coleague's reactions. But I do read EJs books, and I have run across interviews about the 'mysterious' Miss James, and it was clear in those articles that she does love the romance industy--reading and writing--and has a great respect for her fans.
