I call myself a romance writer and romance author interchangeably. It was actually Genevieve who came up with the by-line "Author of Sensual Romances". Obviously, I liked it! *g*

I specify "romance" because I think more of us should. There's a stigma attached to reading and writing romance that I refuse to buckle under. ;)

Steph, I call myself a writer. Hopefully soon... I'll be a paid one.

I say I'm a writer. And I don't ussually specify erotica, or romance or whatever, unless I'm trying to make a point with someone. It's not a big deal either way though. I think. :)

Phew - okay. SO it was just a few writers/authors/novelists out there making up random rules again. I wish they'd stop doing that.

And yes, Jer - paid writer sounds really really nice.

I say I'm a writer. Though I've always thought that if you complete a novel you can call yourself an author. But what about "novelist?" Do you have to be published for that? I'm so confused.

But then, what else is new? *g*

I vote for writer. Maybe novelists write literary fiction? which, frankly sounds like an oxymoron *g*
