I thought it would be fun to share the soundtracks I created and listened to while writing various books. You can listen to a thirty second sample at iTunes by clicking on the links.

Why soundtracks for individual books? Well, I love music - I love how you can listen to a song you loved ten years ago and immediately, it can bring you back to where you were and who you were with at that time. It centers you, cements memories and allows you to recall them immediately.

For this reason, I've always written to - and found inspiration for writing - through music.

During my prewriting phase, I always look for songs that embody the theme of my book, that have the same tension or emotion I'm looking to write about. And then I find songs I know my characters would love as well. From there, I create a soundtrack for each book.

I really recommend this method to writers, especially when you're having a tough time getting into your writing and/or if you write more than one book at a time, like me. Creating an individual soundtrack for each book can really help place you back into those themes and characters you're writing about.
